The first anniversary of apprenticeship 祝！一周年

盆栽園に弟子入りしてから早や一年。
自分が何をしているのかも分からず、ただ親方の指示に従ってアクセク動いているうちにあっという間に過ぎていった一年でした。その中でも季節の変化を感じとる事ができたのは、新緑、開花・結実、紅葉、落葉、水の吸い上げ量の変化、苔の繁殖など、全ては樹が教えてくれました。

One year has passed since I became an apprentice at Bonsai nursery. It went too fast.
However, I was able to feel each seasons because of fresh green leaves, blossoming flowers, fruits, autumn leaves, defoliation, the amount of sucked water, breeding moss etc.. Tree tells me everything.

さて、一年目の節目を迎えた私は真柏に針金をかけていました。
好きな樹を選んでいいと言われたので、左に突き出たジンが特徴的なこの樹にしました。
このジンを活かした美しい樹ができればと意気込んで取り組んだのを覚えています。

When I reached on the first anniversary of apprenticeship, I was wiring Shimpaku Juniper.
Since Oyakata (boss) said I could choose any tree which I want, I chose the tree having a characteristic Jin.
I remembered that when I started working on this tree, I was full of motivation to style it as utilize the characteristics of Jin.

そして丹精込めて出来上がった作品はこちら。
美しい白鷺（しらさぎ）が飛び立つ瞬間がイメージできます。
私の好きな白鷺城こと姫路城に向かって羽ばたいていくことでしょう。
あれこれと色々な想像が頭の中を駆け巡り、針金掛けは大変楽しいものです。
白鷺の首から頭部にかけてのジンが面白く、左への流れが強い樹です。
展示用の鉢に植え替えをすれば雰囲気が一変します。

This is my work on the first anniversary of apprenticeship .
I made my every effort into the work.
I imaged an egret is taking off.
This tree has got quite strong movement to the left.
I hope it will be very nice after repotting it into a nice pot.

修行を始めてから書き出した自分のブログを見直してみると、この一年でかなり上達したと思います。知識も無ければ経験も無い、完全な「無」からのスタートでしたが、好きが高じて続けられました。
それも根気よく教えて下さった先輩方や親方によるサポートがあったからだと思います。
私を弟子として迎え入れ、温かく見守って下さる親方には大変感謝しています。
始めは教わる一方でしたが、現在、私は藤川国際盆栽学校の講師として生徒に教えています。
勿論まだ勉強をすることは沢山ありますし、更に経験も必要です。

I could review when I read my blog and then I feel that I improved my wiring.
The reason why I was able to stay with Kouka-en is that the senior apprentices and Oyakata (boss) cheered me and supported me patiently. I am extremely grateful for them.
At first, I was only taught Bonsai but nowadays, I teach it to my student at The Fujikawa International School of Bonsai. Of cause, I still need to study Bonsai and its experience.

そして良い出会いが沢山あった一年でした。光華園にお越しくださるお客様や、世界中から来られる生徒さん、展示会でお会いしたV.I.P.な方々、みんなの想いは同じで「盆栽が大好き」という事です。盆栽をしている人は平和的で美的感覚が大変優れています。そんな方々と一緒に時間を過ごせることが出来てとても嬉しいです。
今回私が創った“白鷺”と共に、私の将来も飛躍していくことを期待して今後も精進していきたいと思います。

I met a lot of nice people the past year. For example, the customers, students who come from all over the world, very important Bonsai artists and so on. The common thing of all those people is that they love Bonsai. I think Bonsai people are peaceful and have great sense of art. I’m happy to spend time with them together.
I’ll devote effort to my work, hoping that I take a leap into the future, like “the egret”. 

寒グミの針金かけ Wiring big Silverberry

寒グミに針金をかけました。
私にとっては大きな樹で、遣り甲斐があって針金も掛け易かったです。
 
先ず、葉刈りをします。

葉っぱを切っているところ。大きな樹なので見上げながら作業をしました。

I'm cutting all leaves. As this tree is big for me, I faced difficulty working on it.

葉刈りをすることによって枝ぶりがあらわになりました。
枝ぶりを確かめ、不要な枝は切り落とします。
今回は親方に切っていただきました。

After defoliation, I could see the branches.
Oyakata( my boss) cut unnecessary branches.

 

針金かけ後。
基本的には枝を下げるだけの針金掛けでした。
【ポイント】　雑木は柔らかい印象になるように針金で巻きます。

I just put all branches down this time.

<Point> Wire branches of deciduous trees to show soft expression on it.

約三か月後、葉が充実して
「盆栽」になりました。

Three months later.
The foliaged tree became Bonsai.

夏い（熱い）光華園 Hot Kouka-en

We rebuilt the fence at Kouka-en in this summer.
There was a fence made of blue woven metallic wire before. We cut it and spaced lumbers out. The design of new fence emphasizes “Japanese style”. We can often see like this fence in Kyoto. I think the current fence has a relaxed ambience and so cool.

I mostly painted lumbers, spattering paint on my face and clothes. I worked under the roof but my clothes were soaked with sweat all day. I clearly remember that those days were super hot.

After rebuilding the fence, Oyakata ( boss ) took us out to nice dinner. The beer I drunk the day was very nice!

この夏、弟子総出で藤川光華園のフェンスをリニューアルしました。

以前は青色が眩しい金網でしたが、それらを全て切り離し、代わりに材木を並べて「和」を強調しました。盆栽屋さんらしい落ち着いた雰囲気でカッコよくなったと思います。

私は主にペンキ塗りを担当し、顔や衣類にペンキを飛び散らしながら毎日せっせと塗り続けました。日陰での作業でしたが、それでも汗が止まらないくらい暑い日々でした。

フェンスが完成すると、親方がみんなに食事をごちそうして下さいました。ビールは苦くてマズイものと思っていましたが、あの時飲んだビールはメッチャ美味くて、あれ以来好きになりました。


What we did in this summer are:

• checked trees if they got dry or not several times a day and gave water more often than other season. 
• tore a lot of vigorous weeds out of the soil.
• Used the shadowing nets to protect trees from the hot summer sun.
  And so on. The summer rolled by quickly.

夏場は水を切らさないようにチェックを度々行い、自ずと水遣りの回数が増えました。
次々と生えてくる元気な雑草は、根ごと抜くことを繰り返します。
寒冷紗を使い、暑すぎる日差しから木を守ります。

そんな事をしながら暑い夏が過ぎていきました。

I have been working on this Shimpaku. This Jin pokes in my eyes many times.
I wanna finish this tree as soon as possible.

現在、制作中の真柏です。このジンが目をツンツン突っつくんですよ。
完成が楽しみです。
