After 34th Taikan exhibition第３４回大観展を終えて

This is second time Taikan exhibition for me since I become an apprentice.
As I increased in my knowledge, I started to look at Bonsai in a different way. 

弟子になってから２回目の大観展。

去年より知識が増えたので、盆栽を見る目も少し変わりました。
I became aware of the tree if the tree is for display or sale when I saw someone is carrying a tree.
For display trees have radiance and those trees dazzle people by tremendous impact.
I think the tree has love and a passionate soul which are made by Bonsai artists and owners from generation to generation.
I have the same feelings for my trees. I have some trees but I don’t want to give them to anyone.
場内に運ばれている樹を見たときに、あれは展示用か販売用かという区別は大体一目で分かります。
展示用の樹というのはオーラが漂っていて、その迫力と品位に圧倒されます。
歴代のオーナーと職人の情熱と愛情が、その一本の木に魂として生きているんだと思います。
私もいくつか樹を持っていますが、どれもこれも可愛くて手放したくありません。


Display area has powerful influence on our Bonsai life.
When you said “Oh, my god”, you would see a godlike tree.
Then you would be felt awed by the godlike tree.
I always appreciate the owners who showed us such nice trees.
展示コーナーは可愛い我が子の晴れ舞台です。
その樹に一番似合う鉢・卓・草もの等が飾ってあります。
どの席も見事に飾られており、神々しく輝いて見えました。
素晴らしい樹を見せて下さったオーナー方に感謝します。

 

 The must-see sight in this time was Owari-yaki (Owari ware) and Tsuyama-hinoki (Tsuyama Hinoki cypress). I like Owari-yaki because of stylish design and elegant two tone colors which are blue and white.
I was lucky to see them and hoped to repot my trees into Owari-yaki pots.
The displayed Tsuyama-hinoki was miniature version of nature.
I have wired Hinoki cypress several times and I didn’t like it because the leaves fall down easily when I wire. But the displayed Tsuyama-hinoki changed my opinion and I become to like it. After watching those trees, I went to store and looked for Hinoki cypress.
 今回の大観展の注目処は「尾張焼」と「津山桧」です。
以前に本で尾張焼を見たことがあり、その気品に満ちた色とデザインに注目していました。
今回、実物を見る事が出来て大変嬉しかったです。いつか尾張焼の鉢に自分の樹を植えてみたいです。
展示されていた「津山桧」はまさに自然の縮図であり、大自然を見ているような錯覚に陥りました。
桧に針金を掛けたことは何度もあって葉が脆い性質から苦手だったのですが、気づいたら近くの売店で津山桧を探していました。桧に対する印象が一変して、好きになったことは大きな変化です。


I think if you know Bonsai more, you love Bonsai more.
I want to fall too deep into Bonsai more and more. I wish a lot of people become like me and every home has Bonsai 15 years after.
知れば知るほどもっと好きになる。それが盆栽です。
今年よりも来年、来年よりも再来年、どんどん深みにはまっていこうと思います。
そして、そんな人がもっと増えていけばいいと思います。
１５年後には盆栽が一家に一本あるという日が来ることを願います。
