One of famous Bonsai collectors invited us his private exhibition. He is also one of important client for Kouka-en. He held the exhibition to commemorate his seventy years of age at Daitokuji temple in Kyoto.
有名な盆栽コレクターであり、光華園のお客様でもあるYさんの個展に親方が連れて行って下さいました。Yさんの古希記念に、京都大徳寺の芳春院を貸しきりで関係者のみが入場できるという完全プライベートです。
When we entered the front gate, red pine was standing and welcomed us. The long stone path ran to Kato-mado. Kato is flame and Mado is window in Japanese. In this case, Kato–mado means the window has the shape of flame. Sunlight poured through the window, making shadow picture of Hinoki cypress.
芳春院の門をくぐると見事な赤松に迎えられ、先へと続く長い石畳は火灯窓まで続いており、木漏れ日がやんわりと注ぎ込む窓の前にはまるで影絵の様なヒノキが静かに佇んでいました。
We went through the front desk and went to next room. Then, there were the marvels of nature on each Bonsai pots. Some trees used to be at Kouka-en, but the pots had changed to different ones. Those pots matched to the trees and made the trees even better than before.
受付を終えてから隣の部屋に進むと、思わず息を飲むような大自然が盆上に並び連ねていました。かつて光華園にあった樹が別の鉢に植えられていて、それがまた見事に調和しており、以前より格段に優れていたのです。
There are many rooms in the temple and I admired whenever I entered any rooms. All trees are very old. I have seen very old awesome trees, like those trees, in only books.
I was impressed to see those trees directly.
御堂には沢山の部屋があり、各部屋に入るたびに思わず嘆声をもらしてしまいます。どの樹も本当に古くて、ここまでなるのに一体どれ程年月がかかったのか不思議で深く感心しました。本でしか見たことがないような一級品をお目にかかることができて、大変に有難く本当に嬉しかったです。
There was no a dazzling light in temple. Sunlight come into room and makes world of the subtle and profound. There were Bonsai quietly but that had surely a presence in dim room. I saw and felt Wabi-Sabi there. Wabi-Sabi is one of Japanese aesthetic consciousness. Look at Wikipedia:

御堂の中には派手な照明はありません。外の光が部屋の中に入り込むと、そこには幽玄の世界が創りだされ、ぼんやりとした薄暗い部屋の中に情趣ある盆栽が存在し、日本の美意識の侘寂がありました。
昔の人もこうやって盆栽を眺めていたのだろうと思うと感極まり、自分の目の前にある美しき日本文化を誇りに思いました。
His collection was perfect. The tree, the pot, the stand, the display are all the best for each other. I applaud and respect his effort. He would cost enormous time and money for them. I admire his passion and sense of Bonsai and appreciate his hospitality. Needless to say, this is the best exhibition.
Yさんのコレクションは一言でいうと「パーフェクト」でした。樹、鉢、卓、飾り、どれも完璧で、更に凄いところはそれらが見事に調和している点です。これだけ揃えるのには莫大な時間・手間・お金がかかり、さぞかし大変だったことでしょう。Yさんの盆栽に対する情熱と感性と客人に対する温かいおもてなしを礼讃し、言うまでもなく最高の個展でした。
